Rookloze pub kiest hazenpad
Op het Island of Man vertrouwde een pub-eigenaar helemaal op de uitspraken van anti-rokers dat het creëren van een rookvrij binnenklimaat de hoeveelheid klanten zou doen toenemen: geheel vrijwillig verklaarde hij zijn pub rookvrij.
De pub hield het drie maanden uit. De omzet was in die tijd met 50% gezakt.
Retail operations manager Chris Taggart said demand for the introduction of the ban wasn’t matched by public support and with so many other pubs for drinkers to choose from it wasn’t a financially viable option.
Smoking is now permitted throughout the pub as its design makes a partial ban almost impossible, although according to Mr Taggart the pub’s ventilation system should enable customers to breath clean air.
