`Niet-rokers worden aangeklaagd`

Op basis van hoofdstuk 11 van het NAFTA verdrag (Noord-Atlantisch Vrijhandelsverdrag) wil de tabaksindustrie niet-rokers en gemeenten/staten met anti-roken wetten in de VS, Canada en Mexico gaan aanklagen.

De reden: de beklaagden belemmeren het gebruik van de producten van deze industrie.

A lawyer on retainer from both NAFTA and the Tobacco Industry declared, “The NAFTA agreement specifically forbids any action which ‘might expropriate a corporation’s ability to profit.’ By not smoking, these people have caused cigarette makers to lose trillions in sales, and it is simply not good for business.”
