Paypal schaart zich achter anti-tabak
In een plotselinge e-mail aan gebruikers van Paypal meldt de organisatie dat, met directe ingang, Paypal niet meer gebruikt mag worden op sites die tabaksartikelen verkopen.
Een webwinkeleigenaar daarover:
“Omdat we zeker 15 sites hebben draaien kost ons dit veel geld en tijd om dit binnen 24 uur terug te draaien. Buiten dat stikt het van de sites op internet die men WEL toestaat.”
De e-mail:
The PayPal User Agreement states that PayPal, at its sole discretion,
reserves the right to close an account for any violation of the User
Agreement, including the Acceptable Use Policy. Under the Acceptable Use
Policy, PayPal may not be used to purchase or sell tobacco, including
cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco, due to the many difficulties
inherent in assuring that tobacco sales comply with applicable laws. The

We are hereby notifying you that, after a recent review of your account

you add one in order for us to transfer these funds. If you already have
a bank account listed, please log in to your PayPal account and verify that
your account information is accurate, as PayPal cannot be held responsible
for incorrect information provided by the account holder.
You will need to remove all references to PayPal from your website(s)
and/or auction(s). This includes not only removing PayPal as a payment
option, but also the PayPal logo and/or shopping cart. We thank you in
