Florida’s horeca vanaf 1 juli rookvrij

Na de staten Californië, Delaware en New York kunnen rokers ook Florida vanaf deze maand schrappen van hun lijst van vakantiebestemmingen.


Vorig jaar november werd in een volksstemming, na zware lobby van diverse anti-rokersgroepen, een wetswijziging gevraagd om overal in Florida, op publieke plaatsen, roken te verbieden. Na veel gekrakeel over aanpassingen in de regering van de staat is in mei een vrij onduidelijke wet (‘Florida Clean Indoor Air Act’) goedgekeurd die als effect heeft dat sommige soorten uitspanningen véél en andere weinig last van de wet zullen hebben.



And many business owners still wonder what is required of them to comply.


“We get a lot of calls regarding, ‘What does it mean to me?’ especially the restaurant people with questions on bars,” Arnold said. “They are asking for clarification. It is hard because we are not legal experts. Five people can interpret that bill five different ways. We consult our legal expert for the final word.”


The Florida Restaurant Association aims to answer questions from members through a detailed deion of the bill and its requirements pertaining specifically to the restaurant industry.


The association certainly didn’t support the smoking ban but is thankful for concessions made that permit smoking in a restaurant’s outdoor seating area.
