`Als roken de staat zo veel kost, verbied het dan!`

In een opinieartikel in de Charleston Daily Mail schopt een redacteur, zelf ex-roker, tegen het inconsequente gedrag van de overheid aan: als roken de staat geld kost, waarom verbied je het dan niet gewoon en stuur je er daarna premiejagers op af (dead or alive) om de laatste fanatieke rokers uit de staat te verwijderen?

The most insufferable of the prudes are the ex-smokers. The most insufferable ex-smoker I ever encountered was a local politician. I smirked the day he went to jail.

Raising cigarette taxes has failed to do the trick. Tough love is needed. Give them a week to quit or leave the state. Then declare open season on smokers.

Anyone who lights up will be fair game for hunters. Smoking is going to kill them anyway.

Hunters can pay $10 for each smoker they bag. Given we have a quarter-million or so smokers, this could raise another $2.5 million for the state, or enough to pay David Satterfield’s bonuses for the next 100 years.
