Rokersverzet begint vorm aan te nemen
Hoewel het leek dat de Ierse rokers de algemene rookverboden gewillig over zich heen lieten komen lijkt dat tij te keren. Er is inmiddels een volwaardige rokersbelangenorganisatie opgericht onder de naam SAD Ireland (SAD=Smokers Against Discrimination).
Via een site met daarop onder andere oproepen aan rokende kiezers om de volgende keer de gangmakers achter het rookverbod weg te stemmen, biedt de organisatie nu rokers een thuis op internet aan van waar uit het verzet georganiseerd gaat worden.
SAD IRELAND
Smokers against Discrimination Ireland was set up as in the wake of the imposition of the smoking ban in Ireland. In a world where more and more western governments are treating civil liberty, freedom of choice, and freedom of expression as inconvenient optional democratic extras to be dispensed with in lesser or greater degrees its important the voices tolerance and reason are heard.
The imposition of the smoking ban is a manifestation of the governments intolerant, arrogant and intrusive nature into the everyday lives of it’s citizens. The ban took away peoples choice to associate freely and is an important battleground. For if this stands then what objections can be put forward for the imposition and restriction of what else we eat and drink ! Afterall, they know what’s good for us !!
