Engelse pub staat weer roken toe
Volkomen overtuigd door de propagandaverhalen van de anti-rokenbeweging startte een Engelse pub in Lichfield een rookvrije politiek in haar pand.
Twee maanden later en met een omzetverlies in die tijd van 20.000 pond keren de eigenaren snel op hun schreden terug en staan roken weer toe in hun pub. De door de anti-rokenbeweging beloofde niet-rokers kwamen niet massaal aanzetten en de rokers bleven weg…
“At the time everybody agreed with it and thought it was a fantastic idea,” said Miss Thomas.
“We did it for two months but were losing a significant amount of money. That was virtually from the day after.
“We were finding with big parties if a couple of people smoked they were not prepared to go outside for a cigarette, so we ended up losing a table of 20 people.
“It was a nice atmosphere when there was no smoking – but not to the tune of what we were losing.”
