Vitamin C boost |
|
Vitamin C can repair the damaged arteries of smokers and patients with high blood pressure, said Thomas Schindler, a cardiologist at the University Hospital in Basle, Switzerland. A test group took a 1g tablet in the morning and another in the afternoon ó more than 30 times the recommended dose in Britain. Results of a three-year trial in Cambridge are to be reported later this year. Charles George, of the British Heart Foundation, said that there was some evidence that vitamin C could be hazardous in such large doses. |
